Sleeping Baby

I can't get enough of watching babies (and kids in general) sleep! Here's how Jack usually sleeps - or when I see him at least! With his bum in the air, his ankles crossed and his hands tucked underneath him.

Childrens Museum

We bought a 6 month pass for the Manitoba Childrens Museum and we've gone twice. There's lots for the kids to do and play with. This time when we went I remembered the camera but only remembered to take a few pictures. We brought a "picnic lunch" which is always a thrill for Norah.

Norah likes getting her face painted there. She wanted to be a doggie - surprise, surprise!

Cute Stuff!

One cute story about each kid before I forget them!

So last night we were awakened at 2:15 by shattering glass and the power going out at the same time. Norah was immediately calling me for and her room was pitch black. So I got her up and she, Nate and I went first to see if we could find a working flashlight and then to check out the entire house to see what happened. Norah was so traumatized she was shaking. She looked down at herself and said "i'm wiggling". Then when we had finally figured it all out and the power was back on, she said "but I'm still wiggling". Was quite cute how she thought all over body shaking was wiggling!

So Jack has started to love watching Winnie the Pooh. This morning I was up with him and all of a sudden he's doing what they're doing on the show, saying "kno knock" and making a knocking motion with his hand. I was floored that he picked up on that and was doing it with a huge smile on his face.

Pooh, 'Mo and others

Up till a few weeks ago, Jack wasn't into any little characters. Then suddenly we realized he really liked Winnie the Pooh. We've had that show on a few times but not that much as it's not Norah's favorite. Now when we ask him if he wants to watch a show he usually points at the TV and says "Pooh". And it's so cute, he recognizes Pooh on books or wherever. And recognizes more characters, too which is surprising to me. Yesterday in the store, we saw an Elmo and he said "'Mo." He loves to watch TV and he can sit quietly watching his show and playing with his cars. Guess he comes by the TV watching skills honestly in this house!

Make Believe

Norah loves playing make belief and role playing. We've been debating what to get her for her birthday cause she doesn't often just play with toys. Today she was pretending again that she was on the beach.

She also loves to play "doggie" and "doggie hospital" based on a movie she got for Christmas. Here she is as a doggie in her doggie cage!

First Whiff of Potty Training

I am no where near even thinking about potty training Jack. But I guess second child sees older kid doing it...and lately older kid has been pulling her pants down outside to pee again...and he sees it. So today he kept reaching at his pants saying "pee pee". So finally I took him to the toilet to sit on it and he wanted nothing to do with that. So I got out the little potty and he was quite excited about it. I stripped his pants and diaper off and he kept sitting down saying "pee pee". Then after a few seconds, he'd say "done" and get up. But he didn't want his diaper back on. He did this over and over and over. I wondered if he would eventually maybe pee for real. He didn't but it was cute to see him on Norah's little pink potty anyway!

Future Entertainer?!

Jack has lately come up with a new thing. He gets out my swiffer and pretends it's his mic. Then he sings. It's so cute. I finally captured a small amount on video today. Hope you enjoy! I'll include a picture, too.

Back to Blogging!

I had just typed out my opening paragraph and then lost it. So we'll see if I can remember what I all wrote! It's been such a long time since I blogged! I don't think I'll even try to catch up but rather just start again now and hope to keep up with it a bit more regularly. Today I was marvelling at how different my life is now than a year ago. And how much more I'm loving life now! When I started this blog after Jack was born, it was an outlet for me to force myself to think of the positive things in my life with my kids and record them. Now my mindspace is so different that it just amazes me. Today I feel almost at a loss for words to describe my feelings about life now. No, the days are by no means all dandy and rosy...but just so much DIFFERENT and more FUN than they were a year ago. I'm loving the spring weather we got this week where the kids could go and play outside. I'm loving Jack's stage and how he and Norah can play together now and have fun together. I'm amazed again at language development and how Jack's vocabulary is changing daily. It's always a bit sad when their "baby words" become correctly pronounced words! Just last week Jack was saying "boops" for boots and now he says it right. Some other highlights of his vocabulary are "baa" for sheep, "marmar" for marshmallows, "ack" for snack, "gack" for Jack. This reminds me of a funny little story. A little while ago, he was trying to get into the "marmar" cupboard which he knows he's not supposed to be in. He looked at me and said "gaaa-ck, gaaaa-ck". like he knew what i was going to say when I saw him get in there! So cute that little guy is! And so snuggly!

Anyway, I finally feel like I've started taking more pictures of the kids, too. Hadn't much in the winter it seemed like. So here's just a random sampling of some recent pictures of them!
